What is medical cannabis

Medical cannabis refers to the dried female flowers of the plant Cannabis sativa L. or Cannabis indica L. Medical cannabis contains a number of active ingredients, including Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), as well as aromatic substances (terpenes).  The effects of cannabis are caused mainly by THC, but also by other substances (e.g. CBD), which can affect the effects of this auxiliary medicine.  Medical cannabis dispensed at pharmacies meets the qualitative requirements for medicinal products used for preparation at pharmacies. It is prescribed to alleviate symptoms accompanying serious diseases; it is an auxiliary treatment.
